What is the income threshold for employees to contribute to health insurance?
Employees pay contributions to health and nursing care insurance out of their salary, known as their remuneration. However, they only pay contributions for up to a certain amount of their salary – up to an income threshold of 5.175 (2024) / 5.512,50 (2025) EUR per month. No contributions are deducted from the portion of the salary that exceeds this amount.
